Investigating factors affecting UMK students to become social entrepreneur

Social entrepreneurship is a relatively new concept in Malaysia. Many studies had been conducted to find out major intention for gearing towards entrepreneurship (Shaw & Carter, 2007). Despite the fact that it is widely accepted that social entrepreneur makes a significant contribution to an economy, research in to the intention of students to enroll and complete formal enterprise education is limited (Carsrud & Brannback, 2011). However, none of these studies social entrepreneurial intention formation among University student. This research proposal is an extensive study of social entrepreneurial intention formation. While (Mair, Robinson & Hockerts, 2006) have a initial model in social entrepreneurial intention formation, it has not been validated empirically. To address this gap, this study extends earlier research and to examine the social entrepreneurial intentions among University Malaysia Kelantan undergraduates' students. The three intention factors are: empathy, experiences and perceived feasibility. Researcher conducted survey with 130 undergraduate students from University Malaysia Kelantan and questionnaires were distributed to them. In order to generalize this study, this study will employed Pearson Correlation Coefficient analysis to analyze the survey result. In conclusion, the result showed that all the intention factors have a significant relationship with social entrepreneurial with social entrepreneurial intention.
