Abstract

This study involves protease production from E. coli BL21 (DE3) pLysS harbouring 50a protease gene, formulation of liquid detergent and its washing performance analysis.
Three types of detergents labeled Detergent A, Detergent B and Detergent C having different concentration of anionic surfactants (Tween-20) at 3%, 5% and 10% respectively have been formulated through this study. Washing performance test were carried out based on the optimum conditions obtained through previous research at
40 °C, 100 rpm for 1 hour. This experiment had proved that 50a protease showed the most compatibility and stability to Detergent C. it was exposed that among different conditions of washing tested, the combination of 50a protease with detergents exhibited better cleaning action by showing faintness of blood stains. The stains removal evaluation on different condition of washing treatment obtained as followed order: (Detergent supplemented with 50a protease > 50a protease only > Detergent only >: Distilled water only), showed a great potential application of 50a protease in laundry
detergents.
