Abstract

A study was conducted to analyse the biochemical composition of wild Babylonia areolala that are collected from Bachok, Kelantan. Proximate composition such as ash, crude fat, crude protein, crude fibre were analysed. Proximate analysis of B. areolara showed that they were high in protein which range from 65.56 % to 68.89 % and low in fat which range from 0.76 % to 1.00 % . While, for the ash content were range between 4.99 % to 5.00 % and crude fibre content were range from 0.10 % to 0.14 %. This studied suggested that wild B. areolara from Bachok could be considered a healthy food comprising of good sources of protein and low in fat and fibre.
