This study was performed to study the effect of dietary coconut oil with or without vitamin E on growth performance, to identify the crude fat content of breast in quails affected by feed consumed as well as to determine the abdominal fat pad weight. The supplementation of coconut oil with or without vitamin E in the feed of Japanese quail (Coturnix cortunix japonica) on their growth performance, abdominal fat pad weight and crude fat content was examine in this experimentation. Forty eight Japanese quail with the aged of two weeks old were divided into four different treatments with three replications each. Each replication contain four numbers of bird. The body weight, feed consumption, feed conversion ratio and mortality were measured weekly. At the end of 42 day old, a quail from each replication with the best body weight were slaughtered. The abdominal fat was weight and the carcass
from breast were weight and dry for proximate analysis. Results showed that addition of 3% coconut oil and vitamin 200mg/kg diet in treatment 3 have a positive effect on growth rate of the quail. it can be concluded that coconut oil and vitamin E can be used effectively in Japanese quail diet as it did not give negative impact to the quail.
