This study area for General Geology of Kg Gemang is located at Gemang 5°47'20.742"N 101°50'53.214"E, 5°47'20.828"N 101°53'33.109"E, 5'44'37.834"N 101'50'53.007"E and 5°44'37.92"N 101°53'33.191"E. The coordinate given covered for 5 kilometres by 5 kilometres (5km x 5km). Specification for this thesis was done to identify geological factor that control the suitability of landfill construction and to produce potential landfill zone map for Jeli District by using Geographic Information System (GIS). Objectives for this study area are to update geological map to 1: 25,000 scale. Method used in this project including mapping, lab work and (AS software. Geological Mapping covered for sampling purposes and those samples is collected for further study in the laboratory for thin section interpretation. The samples are going to collect from the available outcrop. Thin section is a 30 μm (= 0.03 mm) thick slice of rock attached to a glass slide with epoxy. Lithology of Gemang involves granitic rocks. GIS spatial analysis used involved reclassification and union based on soil texture, fault distribution, distance from river, landuse and topography (slope degree) as parameters. The most suitable sites for landfill site development in the study area should be located 750 m from main river networks, out of fault zone area and with the low permeability and porosity of soil properties. The selected areas have slopes less than 12%, with minimizing environmental impacts. The study proposes acceptable landfill sites for solid waste disposal in the area.
