This study sets out to investigate the geology and hydrochemistry of Kampung Jakar, Tanah Merah. The major significance of this study is to provide an insight to the geological riches and groundwater quality of the study area for the purpose of economics and safety of the communitiy. The methods employed are geological mapping and silica analysis of groundwater in the study area. The investigation is successful in providing a groundwater quality assessment and identification of groundwater type in study area. with most of the parameters are in the threshold of safety guideline provided by Canadian or BC Health Act Safe Drinking Water Regulation, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Drinking Water Standards and WHO drinking water guideline and the source of contaminants are identified to be geogenic and with minimal anthropogenic influence. A updated geological map of study area on 1 : 25,000 scale is produced and in addition to study water chemistry alteration source of groundwater in the study area is attained. With this point of view, the community can have more economical findings based on geological information and a water source proven to be safe for commercial and portable use.
