Abstract
The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of using bedding on the growth and mortality of caged Japanese quail. The experiment lasted for 7 weeks. For 3 weeks, the Japanese quail reared up in brooding box while another 4 weeks the Japanese quail were divided equally and allocated into two cages. Japanese quail allocated in cages without bedding and with sawdust bedding. The result on average body weight for 4 weeks showed the using of sawdust bedding in cage did not give better growth on quails compared to cage without bedding. The mortality is higher in the used of sawdust bedding. Thus, the use of sawdust bedding does not suitable to be used as bedding. |
