Abstract
This experiment was carried out to determine the antibacterial and antioxidant activity of Polygonium Minus (kesum) and Etlingera Elatior. (kantan). Leaves of Polygonium Minus (kesum) and flower of Etlingera Elatior (kantan) were extracted with petroleum ether to obtained petroleum ether extract i.e PMP and EEP. The antibacterial PMP and EEP were tested against Escherichia coli and Bacillus cereus using disc diffusion assay. The antioxidant activity of PMP and EEP were determined by DPPH assay. At 2.5pg/disc results indicate that zone inhibition for PMP towards Escherichia coli and Bacillus cereus were 23.00±11.26 and 12.00±6.93 whereas zone inhibition for EEP towards Escherichia coli and Bacillus cereus were 15.00±10.44and 32.33±2.52 |
