Abstract
Snake bean (Vigna unguiculata ssp. sesquipedalis) belongs to Family Fabaceae or known as legumes. One of the popular breeding method that can be carried out in order to increase yield and pod length from the previous generation is mass selection method. This project employed the mass selection method on the pod length and yield of snake bean. From this project, the total snake bean pod produced is 544 pods. The mean had increased from 44.59 cm of second generation to 45.02 cm of third generation cultivation. The mode percentage of pod length had slightly increased from 17.52% to 20.96% with the same class interval of 46.0-50.9 cm. About 7.35% of the snake bean pod yield with pod measurement of 60 cm above were selected to be used for the selection materials of the next snake bean generation. |
