Abstract
Bacterial wilt (MOKO) that caused by Ralsionia solanacearum is one of the most widespread and destructive disease of banana in Malaysia. In this study, isolation and screening of possible antagonistic bacteria towards R. solanacearum collected from banana plantation in Jeli were carried out. The antagonistic activities of the bacteria against R. solanacearum were carried out in-vitro. Bacteria were isolated from rhizosphere soil using serial dilution technique in the infected area. R. solanacearum were collected from infected banana parts. The antagonist bacteria were selected through the quick screening test by using dual culture techniques. The clearing zone on the dual culture plate indicated the antagonistic activity exists between the unknown bacteria and R. solanacearum. |
