Abstract

Job opportunities nowadays are very limited provided for fresh graduates. Fresh graduates must have strong result, talents, skills and experiences to compete with each other. Fresh graduates must have their guts to involve in business. Federal government has taken action by giving a lot of opportunities to undergraduates involve in business. This study aims to measure the factors that influence the intention of students of Universiti Malaysia Kelantan to start a business. Factors examined include attitude factor, educational factor, environment factor and demographic details ranging from gender, races and faculty. A total of 100 questionnaires were distributed to final year students of Universiti Malaysia Kelantan. Data collected was analysed and finding shows that average total mean for attitude factor was 4.46 and can be classified as agree. The correlation between intention to start a business and attitude is strong (r = .71) and there is a significant relationship between intention and attitude. Average total mean for educational was 4.95 and can be classified as strongly agree. There is a significant relationship between intention to start a business and educational with a weak correlation (r = .31). For environment factor, average total mean was 4.73 and classified as strongly agree. There is a significant relationship between intention to start a business and environment with modest correlation (r = .65)
