This research was conducted at surrounding of Padanglamp, Barru regency, South Sulawesi, Indonesia to understand the geology of the study area. The objectives for this research are to produce an updated geological map of study area with specific dimension of 25 kmz, to identify types of a fossil that present and lastly are to interpret age and depositional environment of study area based on fossil identifications. The method use is geological mapping in order to identify the geomorphology, lithologies, and geological structure. Based on this research, four major units of lithologies were found which are volcanic breccias, limestone, sandstone and intrusion of andesite and trachyte unit. For the specifications, method that used was simple soaked method where the fossils were soaked with hydrogen peroxide (H202) disaggregate fossils between rocks for it can reducing large chunks of sample to more manageable fragment compared to mortar and pestle where it resorted the fossils. The result from this study shows six species found which are Cerithium Salebrosum Sowerby, Cerithium T uberculatum, Cerithium Zonatum, Oliva Junghuhni, Septifer sp. and Ostrea sp.. where most of the different species of fossil can be found from Middle Neogene. The depositional environment of the study area was interpreted from shallow subtidal with restricted area of lacustrine or lagoon environment.
