This work aims at increasing the knowledge about the chemical and physical analysis of sugarcane bagasse (Saccharum officanaryum), as well as exploring the possibility to improve the benefits of this fine organic waste for many industrial sectors. The major natural organic compounds contained in sugarcane bagasse were extracted by using solvent extraction method. HPLC, FTIR, XRF and SEM-EDS analysis were used in order to analyse the organic compounds in sugarcane bagasse which mainly contained carbon, oxygen, silica, and fibers which are very important in agricultural-based industry. For this reason, the alkaline (NaOH) pre-treatment was applied in order to obtain the organic compounds exist in sugarcane bagasse and also enabling the characterization without damaging the structural composition of the bagasse. The analyzation results of treated sugarcane bagasse were compared with the untreated sugarcane bagasse in order to spot the differences after being treated with alkaline solution.
