Abstract

Landslide phenomenon was one of natural disaster which caused huge of economic loss and high of mortality rate. Landslide phenomenon was the most common event that can occur anywhere and anytime. Landslide was related to hydrology cycle and geomorphology where rainfall, land cover and type of soil were part of triggering factors that caused the landslide. This study was conducted to identify and allocate the risk area of landslide occurrence throughout main road networks in Jeli district on three major pathways which are Jeli-Grik pathway, Jeli- Tanah Merah, and Gua Musang-Jeli pathways or Jelawang —Jeli pathway throughout Kuala Krai district by using GIS application and remote sensing. The usage of GIS application was able to provide the data of landslide occurrences by located the risk area of landslide and had guided to a framework for future mitigation to reduce the massive destruction due to this phenomenon. Spatial analysis and 3D analysis had been used in this research to calculate the probability of landslide occurrences based on the obtained data. DEM is one of data that used to identify the landslide occurrences. In conclusion, landslide hazard map was produced which can be as guidance for prediction of landslide occurrences in the future.
