Due to the rising awareness of the reduction of fossil fuel resources and environmental issues, biodiesel became more and more attractive in the recent years. Biodiesel production is a promising and important field of research because the significance it gains from the rising petroleum price and its environmental advantages. This paper reviews the production of biodiesel from waste cooking oil and black liquor. The parameters affecting biodiesel production process such as effect of solvents, effect of time affect of speed and effect of temperature were optimized. Waste cooking oil labelled as A and Black Liquor from wood cooking labelled as B were used to convert into more valuable end product which is biodiesel which then were characterized by spectroscopic and analytical techniques FTIR and elemental analysis. Biodiesel is substitute energy resources to diesel fuels that promising the considerable to diminish of environmental problem and reduce the wastes of products. In this study, NAOH have been used in the production of biodiesel. The main product obtained was biodiesel without side product for waste cooking oil (A). Meanwhile there are several layers produced after the reaction which could not be identified which one is main product and which is side product mainly for Black Liquor (B). Yield of biodiesel product were calculated in percentage which is the optimum result at 80 % using methanol solvents and 0.70 g catalyst with optimum condition of 5 minutes time, speed 1 of blender and 40 ᵒC of temperature. However, percentage of biodiesel from Black Liquor could not be calculated as we need GCMS to identify which one is the biodiesel product.
