Diversity and distribution of family piperaceae at Lata Cuit, Jeli, Kelantan

This study was conducted to investigate the diversity and distribution of Family Piperaceae at Lata Cuit, Jeli, Kelantan. The random sampling methods is carried out along the trail to Lata Cuit. This research was carried out at Lata Cuit, Jeli, Kelantan from March 30 to March 31, 2022. The goal of this research is to identify and estimate the diversity of the Piperaceae family at the research area. This study is necessary to gather the information that can be used in future references. About three species of Piperaceae has been found from along the trail Lata Cuit, Jeli with each species consist of several number of species were identified and recorded. Throughout this research, all the species found is Piper betle, Piper sarmentosum and Piper porphyrophyllum, are recorded Not Evaluated according to International Union for Conservation of Nature. The diversity index represented by Shannon-wiener index, H’ is 1.09 whereas the Simpson diversity index, D is 2.94 for the overall of Piperaceae family. From the total of Piperaceae recorded, the relative abundance omit of Piper betle is 40% while for Piper sarmentosum and Piper porphyrophylum is 30%. This species of Piperaceae has its own important and mostly it can be used for medicinal value. The Piperaceae species that has been collected is Piper betle, Piper sarmentosum, and Piper porphyrophyllum.
