Abstract

Connecting phrases are used to link ideas within a text and to create cohesion between paragraphs. They also enhance the text style, eloquence and clarity in presenting ideas. This study aims to examine connecting phrases in two important elements: structure and semantics, using selected texts from Arabi Magazine. The study also addresses research problems such as the lack of studies on connecting phrases, its structural and semantic elements, and the absence of reference books on their usage. Two main methodologies are employed in this study: the analytical method to explore the nature of connecting phrases and the text analysis method. The study seeks to provide a comprehensive understanding of connecting phrases, their structure, and semantics, and how to use them correctly. Additionally, this study will produce a complete handbook to assist people in using connecting phrases effectively. Furthermore, the study encourages future research on connecting phrases in different contexts and elements, such as in text conditions and meanings.
