Abstract

This study focuses on the evolution of political leadership in Guinea starting from 1958 to 2023. Guinea has formed a civilian government since gaining independence from the French in 1958. However, since April 1984 until September 5, 2021 there have been six (6) series of coups in Guinea which have led to political instability. It has had implications for social and economic well-being in the republic. Therefore, Guinea needs a system of governance and government capable of bringing political stability and prosperity to the people and the country.there are four study objectives: (a) to examine the leadership in the absolute monarchy of Malinke civilization military alliance in Guinea from 1958 to 2023, (b) to examine the evolution of political leadership in Guinea, (c) to examine historical political rule in Guinea (d) to examine Guinea’s need for stability as a government with a nation-state system. This study uses a qualitative approach by collecting primary data through in-depth interview sessions with ten (10) informants who have been identified to answer the objectives of the study. The results of the study have produced several findings; a) in order to achieve national stability, Guinea needs a constitutional transition of political power to a government based on an absolute monarchy system of government through alliances and the support of the military. b) only with the election of strong leadership able to create national stability and national security collectively. c) only with the establishment of Malinke's absolute monarchy system by the transitional government of the republic of Guinea can the unity and security of the country be strengthened in the long term. d) In addition, stability in Guinea requires the implementation of various strategies such as; constitutional changes, national security policy, strengthening economic governance, and also reforming political institutions. In conclusion, the restoration of the absolute monarchy-based government system led by the Malinke ethnic group can guarantee the stability and security of the country in Guinea as in Brunei, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Eswatini. This study has contributed to the field of political science and political leadership in Guinea in either a theoretical or practical context
