Abstract

In bio-composites containing polylactic acid (PLA), kenaf core fibre (KCF), a natural fibre, has the potential to be employed as reinforcement material. The mechanical properties of kenaf core fiber/polylactic acid (PLA) biocomposites can be affected by chemical treatment. This study investigated the effect of MAPLA on the mechanical properties of kenaf core fiber/PLA biocomposites. Compounding and testing specimen has been done by melt-blending internal mixer and compression moulding. Sample characterization was conducted using mechanical testing (tensile test).
