Hotel sector is one of important segments of the hospitality industry. In hotel businesses, employees play a key role in delivering the products and services to the customers. Excellent services create lasting positive experiences for customer. This study examines the mediating effect of job performance on career competencies and personality towards career success of hotel employees in Kelantan and Terengganu. This study using data set taken from 149 respondents obtained from 36 hotels which is range from 3 to 5 stars throughout Kelantan and Terengganu state. The study used Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) software in order to analyze the relationships between all the variables. The results showed that the career competencies and personality are significantly positive to career success. While, the result of mediator indicated job performance was partially mediated to career competencies and full mediated to personality. This study supports the findings on the efficiency of the career competencies and personality on career success has been conducted before. Therefore, future research should continue this research by adding relevant dimensions and components which more appropriate by industry studied. Furthermore, the career competencies detailed in this study are a potential reference for the planning of main or general education courses in the hospitality domain. Hospitality programs can offer a hospitality career and employability course that presents modules such as self-management, job-seeking and mobility techniques, problem solving skills and balancing private life and work.
