The objective of this study were to compare the selected nutritive values, antioxidant and in vitro larvaecidal activity of Kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus) and Moringa oleifera leaves against Haemonchus contortus in goat. Proximate analysis was conducted on Kenaf and Moringa leaves collected from Bachok, Kelantan. The result of nutritive values of Kenaf, 25% DM, 23% CP, 14% CF, 2% EE, 52% GE, 6% ASH, 52% GE,4% Ca, 2.07% P, 0.54% Mg,0.18% Na,2.23% K, 207 ppm Fe, 9 ppm Cu, 20 ppm Mn, 18 ppm Zn, while for Moringa, 23% DM, 25% CP, 7% CF, 4% EE, 52% GE, 0.98% Ca, 2.13% P, 0.45% Mg, 0.02% Na, 1.30% P, 250 ppm Fe, 10 ppm Cu, 290 ppm Mn, 30 ppm Zn, respectively. Larvacidal activities at different concentrations (10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50%) of ethanolic extract of Kenaf and Moringa were tested against of Haemonchus contortus. Level of antioxidant in the leaves of Kenaf and Moringa was determined by using HPLC and compared with quercetin as standard. Data obtained were analyzed using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) using the software SPSS version 17.0 and t-test, differences between the means were considered significant at P < 0.05. The ethanol leaf extract of Kenaf and Moringa inhibited 33.2% and 44.0% of the larva at 30% concentration respectively (P ˂ 0.05). The result of the level of antioxidant for Kenaf, Moringa and quercetin (the standard) gave 353%, 455% and 375% respectively. Analysis of variance showed that there was no significant difference among the means for the three. The leaves of the two plants contained significant quantity of nutrients required for feeding small ruminant. The ethanol extracts of Kenaf and Moringa possessed potential larvicidal activities against H. contortus. Further studies on in vivo are necessary to confirm the anthelminthic property of these plants.
