Abstract

Study was to find out the potential of limestone geohazard in Kampung Ipoh, Jeli. Study area was located at 5°42'1.0"N, 101°43'72.4” E with elevation 106 metre. Study area can be access from main road of Jeli-Grik. Potential geohazard was been marked at Gunung Reng as limestone hill at coordinate northern east of study area. Potential geohazard was depending on the limestone characteristic itself. While potential geohazard also can be affected by the surrounding area such as human activity, weather, and mass movement by time. This study involved two parts which are general geology of the study area and potential geohazard of limestone using electrical resistivity imaging (ERI) method. The objectives of the study were to update geological map. This geological map was digitizing using arcGIS software in of drainage map, contour map, geological map, base map and landuse map. This can help in study of the area with correlation of geological map with transverse map that be done in fieldwork using GPS. Electrical resistivity Imaging (ERI) was used in identify subsurface condition of Gunung Reng via transmitted electricity into the ground to overview the subsurface. Wenner array configuration was used to interprate more on vertical resistivity imagine. Wenner array was a protocol that focus on vertical resistivity that help to understand more on limestone bedrock. As a result, limestone bedrock was found in the subsurface that contain high of water volume. Besides, another objective is to determine potential limestone geohazard in Gunung Reng, this objective been proved by the result of ERI in chapter 5 where the subsurface in Gunung Reng was shown. The subsurface was full of water content and the rock in this area may high tendency to dissolution due to water movement.
