General geology and characterization of iron deposit in Ayer Lanas, Jeli District, Kelantan

Ayer Lanas is one of a district in Kelantan was found to have valuable mineral which is iron deposit. This mineral has high economic value and gets special attention by the native people because of its uses in steel-making industries. The occurrence of iron deposit in Ayer Lanas was revealed by the villagers as the minerals are visible at the surface Therefore, research has been done in order to identify the market value of the iron deposit. Characterization of iron has been done in order to identify the element present in raw iron. Result obtained by using X-ray Diffraction meters has shown that iron deposit found in Ayer Lanas area has contain iron, gangue minerals and impurities. Rather than identifying the characteristic of the iron deposit, the geology of study area Ayer Lanas, also has been studied. Whereas two types of igneous rock has been identified which are quartz-rich granotoid and quartz syenite.
