The existing of oil in the wells at Kg Baru, Pasir Pekan, Tumpat, Kelantan have raised the questions either the oil are from the potential of natural oil trap within the subsurface or caused by the leakage of petrol from the nearer petrol station. The study area was located at Kampung Baru Pasir Pekan, Tumpat, Kelantan and has attracted the attention of many researchers. The objectives for this research are to update the geological map of the study area in scale 1:25000, to determine the existence of oil contaminant in the groundwater in the study area and lastly to analyze groundwater quality based on World Health Organization (WHO) standard of the study area. The existing of oil in the wells in Kampung Baru Pasir Pekan have caused the contamination of groundwater as the water mixed with the oil and this would lead to bad effects to the villagers as the wells are their main water resources in daily life In this study, the contaminated oil will be analyzed to identify their source of contaminants. The methods used in this research are Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometer (GCMS ) analysis, in situ parameter of water and sieving analysis. The results from this research determine that the source of contamination to the groundwater in the study area was RON 95 oil.
