Abstract

Floods are common natural disaster occurring in most parts of the world. Gua Musang is chosen as the study area to do this research but only focused on four areas in Gua Musang. Serious flood have hit the part of Kelantan state, Gua Musang. The flood caused great damage to properties and human lives. There are various methods used in an attempt to provide the most reliable ways to reduce flood risk and damage to the optimum level by identifying flood vulnerable zones. The purpose of this study is to analyse flood hazard based on the map with identifying the causes of the flood in the study area, to identify the flood exposure area through the producing of the map and to determine flood vulnerability in the study area and the total loss of the flood will be classified into low, medium and high of vulnerability. The Geographical Infomation System (GIS) is used to produce flood map of exposure, hazard and vulnerability. This software can give better understanding of demonstration of deferential zones of flood and it is more effectively. The result of this study shows, the areas that were exposed to flood were Bandar Gua Musang, Batu Papan, Ketil and Pulai. The flood hazard map shows that Gua Musang have major high level of hazard and the flood vulnerability map shows the areas with dilferent level of total loss.
