Abstract

Unit trust investment in Malaysia is become popular after the success of ASN (Amanah Saham Nasional) and ASB (Amanah Saham Bumiputera) introduced by Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) in 1980's and become popular because investment at ASB will get higher return in every year. Amanah Saham Bumiputera is a special investment for Bumiputera groups of natives or residents of a particular place and the people who are categorized as the Bumiputera group in Malaysia is the Malays, the Peribumi natives of Sabah and Sarawak. Consumer perceptions from their knowledge, religiosity, attitudes and social influences perspective has brought the surface an existing area for study and research. From the perspective, have been the focus interests among researchers. The purpose of this research is to study the determinants of student perceptions towards ASB investment. In addition, this study also aims to identify the most dominant factors that influencing the student's perceptions towards ASB investment. A total of 100 respondents from University Malaysia Kelantan's student were selected for the purpose of this research. The result shows that more than half of respondents are interested in Amanah Saham Bumiputera but lack of knowledge in Amanah Saham Bumiputera. This research focus on the perception of Islamic banking and finance students about Amanah Saham Bumiputera (ASB) investment.
