Carica Papaya compounds was successfully isolated and screened for their microbial activity. Carica Papaya leaves was macerated by using different type of solvents
(methanol, hexane, ethyl acetate and distilled water). Thin layer chromatography (TLC) and column chromatography were used to isolate the crude extract and fractions by using different types of solvent system. The antimicrobial activity of papaya leaves was evaluated by using disc diffusion method. Methanol crude extract
was selected as best crude extract. The good solvent system to separate methanol extract was hexane and ethyl acetate with ratio 1:2. The methanol and ethanol with
the ratio 1:1 was determined as a good solvent for the first column chromatography fraction. The best solvent to isolate fraction for second chromatography was methanol and ethanol with the ratio 3:7. HPLC result analysis confirmed the selected fraction has single compound and the fraction shows positive result towards Bacillus
Subtilis.
