Abstract

Kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus L.) is one of the important species of Hibiscus cultivated for fiber. The production of haploid plants by androgenesis and gynogenesis followed by chromosome doubling to produce dihaploid homozygous plant can be achieved in short period compared with inbred lines by conventional method. In this research, the effects of the hormonal combination in androgenesis and gynogenesis sources of variety of kenaf variety KB6 were studied. Study was carried out on anther ovary and ovule culture in different hormonal combination such as NAA, BAP, and TDZ to induce callus. The best callus induction frequency was observed in MS medium fortified with 3.0mg/L BAP + 0.5mg/L TDZ with ovary culture gave 100% response followed by 80.43% in ovule culture and 70.25% for anther culture.
