Aquaponics is the science of integrating the production of fish and plant in a symbiotic environment in which fish waste is used as fertilizer. The characteristic of the materials used as substrate in soilless culture system, directly and indirectly affect the plant growth and production. In this study, the system was conducted in at nursery of Plant Tissue Culture Lab at University Malaysia Kelantan. Therefore, the research was aim to study the growth performance and yield of water spinach (lpomea aquatica) and tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) under multi-tier aquaponic system in different media growth. The media growth that used in this study were control (Treatment l,Tl), gravel (Treatment 2, T2) and coconut husk with charcoal(Treatment 3, T3). The results of statistical analysis revealed that there was significant different (P< 0.05) on growth parameter of tilapia which fish weight (33.46 ±4.70), fish length (13.84 ±O.37) and fish girth (9.45±O.27). There are also have significant difference on growth parameter of water spinach are height of plant (35.43±3.21), length of stem
(31.08±3.83) and diameter of leaves (1.29±0.19) in treatment 2 respectively. There were no significant difference (P > 0.05) in diameter of fish, length of leaves and number of leaves among the treatment. The total yield of water spinach and tilapia is 566g and 2271 g respectively.
