This research investigates the effects of dietary palm oil with or without vitamin E to feed ration for Japanese quails (Coturnix japonica). The aspects studied were growth performance, abdominal fat pad weight and crude fat content of breast meat. The research was conducted in Agropark, Jeli Campus of University Malaysia Kelantan for 28 days. A total numbers of 48 quails (21 days-old birds) were used and were fed for a period of 28 days. Others supplemented diet used were 3% of palm oil, 200mg/kg of vitamin E and also commercial feed. There were 4 treatments and each treatment contains 3 replications. The treatment tested were Treatment 1 (commercial feed) as control, Treatment 2 (commercial feed with 3% of palm oil), Treatment 3 (commercial feed with 200mg/kg of vitamin E) and Treatment 4 (commercial feed, 3% of palm oil and 200mg/kg of vitamin E). At the end of the research, Treatment 4, that had been fed with diet supplemented with 3% of palm oil and 200mg/kg of vitamin E has high body weight, growth rate, feed efficiency and fat depositions of meat when compared to other treatment.
