Giant freshwater prawn, Macrobrachium rosenbergii (De Man, 1879) is part of family Crustacean. The current study aimed to establish nutritional assessment of wild and farm-reared Macrobrachium rosenbergii. Protein, fat,
carbohydrate, ash and moisture content in giant freshwater prawn collected from wild and culture farm during October 2015 were determined dry matter basis by
following Association of Analytical Communities (AOAC) method to evaluate the nutritional value of prawn from different sources. The analysis of the tabulated data was performed by using SPSS 20.0 statistical software to evaluate the mean standard deviation. Freshwater prawn that been collected in both populations shows good proximate composition although variation occurred. The
higher value of crude proteins and carbohydrates were identified in cultured prawn. Nutritional values of prawn are highly influenced by the feeding factor. The absence of significance different between wild and farm-reared type indicate that the nutritional value between them assume to be similar.
