Effect of different feeds fed to the parent of betta splendens on their reproductivity, hatchability of the eggs, and the survivability of their fry

This thesis presents a better method for the improvement of reproductive performance of Betta splendens in the sense of fecundity, hatchability, and survivability. This is done by manipulating the feeds that are provided to the parents prior to breeding. Conventional methods such as using commercial feeds available in the market have shown a failure in increasing the reproductivity of the fish. The proposed method is by testing bloodworm
and fruit fly larvae as alternatives to the commercial feeds supplied to the parents. The fecundity of Betta subjected to different feeds was compared. In addition, the effect of these feeds fed to the parents towards the offspring hatchability and survivability were investigated. The proposed method can be applied commercially to increase the reproductive performance of the fish and survivability of the fish fry as the proposed feed showed an overwhelming
result.
