Iodine staining is to determine the active components which present in the Vitex rotundifolia extracts. Four bacterial are chosen to be determined the zone of inhibition of the bacteria. Only the gram-positive bacterial Bacillus subtilis, Enterococcus faecalis shows the positive result which shows a clear zone of inhibition. While, there is no effect on the gram-negative bacterial. For gram-negative bacterial Escherichia coli, Shigella boydii no results will be given out from the two bacterial. On the other hand, iodine staining show there is alkaloids and terpene component present in the Vitex rotundifolia. All the three solvent shows the positive results towards the gram-positive bacterial. The plant Vitex rotundifolia has antibacterial activity which inhibit the bacterial growth. Vitex rotundifolia contains the active components. For future study, vitex rotundifolia can be commercialized as effective natural remedies. Besides, it can make use of the essential volatile oil to process it become perfumes.
