Abstract

The title of this project is 'Integrated geological studies to recognize the potential of Lata Telaga Bijih area, Tanah Merah district, Kelantan as a geotourism site. The study area is located at sub- district of Jedok. This study area has a longitude between 101°56'24" E to 101°59'20" E and latitude between 5°45'16" N to 5°47'38"N with a dimension of 5km ͯ 4km. The objectives of this study were to analyze the geomorphology, structural geology, petrography and water quality at Lata Telaga Bijih. Besides, to assess the geotourism potential of the study area is also an objective of this study. Through geological mapping, it can be seen that the lithology of rocks at the study area are granite, interbedded sandstone and schist. Besides, there is a cascade that formed at the area of igneous rock. Meanwhile, there is a formation of pool at the downstream of the cascade where the recreational activities like swimming can be done. Other activities like jungle tracking, camping and picnic are some activities that can increase the potential of geotourism at this area.
