Abstract

This study is located in district Kuala Krai. Kelantan. The study area is bounded by longitude 102 ̊ 11' 6.85''E to 102 ̊ 13' 48.26''E and latitude 05 ̊ 34' 11.35''N to 05 ̊ 36' 55.14''N located northern part of Kuala Krai, Kelantan. The objectives of this final year project are to produce geological map, determine the type of volcanic rocks and determine volcanic rocks based on texture. Methodology that had used is petrography. Petrography analysis are done by making thn section, observation of hand specimen an observation under polarized microscope. Based on field and petrographic studies, the types of volcanic rocks in the study are consisted of andesite. Basically this andesite consisted pyroxene, plagioclase and biotite as main mineral component. For overall the meta-andesite shows porphyritic texture, the crystal subhedral and euhedral in shape. Characteristics phenocryst of this pyroxene and plagioclase shows that the rocks crystallize at high temperature.
