General geology and sedimentology of Kg. Merapoh Lama, Merapoh, Pahang

This research focus on Gua Musang Formation which their distribution include in Merapoh part. The age of formation have been thought between Permian —Triassic age accordingly to the data analysis sedimentology, biostratigraphy, lithology and others. Kg. Merapoh lama , Merapoh (N 4°41'36.41" E102° 0'7.72") is a part of Lipis district. The objective for this research to produce geological map and study the facies characteristics with determination of depositional environment. This research study covered several locality to indicate the sedimentological data, consist of 11 outcrops samples with 15 thin section samples from all outcrops. Based on the analysis, 6 microfacies of carbonate rock and 2 Siliciclastic facies were determine. For carbonate rock include bioturbated wackstone, wackstone , bioturbated packstone, biomudstone, lime mudstone and laminated lime mudstone. For siliciclastic rock include shale and very fine sandstone. Detailed analyses of petrography did reveal the data information of possibly depositional environment and paleocurrent. . Based from the results and discussion it have been conclude that the deposition environment settings at study area is at shallow marine of open platform.
