Abstract

Japanese quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica) is one of the most suitable bird used in poultry production for research purposes. This is due to the rapid growth rate, early maturity and resistance toward disease. A total of 96 day old Japanese quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica) are purchased from commercial farms and raised up to 42 days old. The different level of vitamin E (18,90 and 180 mg/kg diet) was supplemented in the diet from day old until 42 days. The parameters observed were growth rate, feed efficiency and relative lymphoid organ weight. The results show that the level of vitamin E was not significantly (P > 0.05) affected the growth rate, feed efficiency and the lymphoid organ weight of the quail.
