Abstract

The effect of different loudness of classical music (Bach) on the Green Cos lettuce which was grown in hydroponic system was investigated. This study was carried out at nursery of Agricultural Technology Division, Department of Industrial and Technology, Faculty of Science and Technology, Prince of Songkla University, Pattani campus, Thailand. The study was conducted for about five weeks which started in early of July to August, 2013. The experiment was designed in Completely Randomized Design (CRD), with three replication. Lettuce were exposed to Bach music at different level which ranged from 85-90 dB (slow), 90-95 dB (medium), 95-102 dB (high) and 0-85 dB for the control. The result revealed that the classical music has significant effect to the leaf number, length of stem, stem diameter of lettuce leaf area, root length, fresh and dry weight of shoot and root. While no significant difference was found on germination percentage. The slow level of classical music (Bach) was found to have the best effect in improving lettuce growth.
