Abstract

Landslide is one of costly damaging natural hazard that occur in mountainous area This phenomenon usually trigger by anthropogenic and natural events like earthquake and rainfall. This study covered the area of Jeli Town. Landslide hazard zonation system is used to produce the map that shows the area with different potential of landslide in Jell. Kelantan. Geographic information system (GIS) is used with the Indian standard (IS) code (BIS 1998) rating system to get different level of landslide hazard. Different factors that contribute into landslide are rock type, soil type, slope morphometry, relative relief, land used and sand cover. The result shown the area that cover medium hazard is 4 percent while low hazard is 96 percent. This map can be a reference for any parties for future development plan of Jeli.
Key words: Geographic information system (GIS), Landslide hazard zonation system, potential landslide, area of potential landslide.
