Universiti Malaysia Kelantan Jeli Campus was started the operation after their administration buildings completed in January 2012. Until now, UMK Jeli Campus had a total of 1600 people, consisting of staffs and students. UMK development operations in Jeli was started since 2008 and it still continues running until now to meet the needs of campus community, as well as daily administrative operations. Both of these types of operational stage to some extent affected the water quality in the nearby river. Water quality monitoring was conducted o nearby river, Sungai Buluh upon the impact of development of UMK Jeli Campus. The water quality parameters measured are pH, temperature, dissolved oxygen (DO), turbidity, total suspended solid (TSS), biological oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD), and ammoniacal nitrogen (NH3N). Results for each parameter are summarized as follow; turbidity (5.65 NTU), temperature (26.76 ̊ C), TSS (42.68 mg/L), DO (90.74%), pH (7.85), COD (4.38 mg/L), BOD (1.087mg/L), and NH3N (0.467mg/L). Water quality index for each sampling points were calculated. Weather condition and time are taken into consideration which influences the dissolved oxygen concentration on the river. The result obtained is based on Water Quality Index, shows that Sungai Buluh is slightly polluted, with WQI 67, which is Class III due to operational stages of UMK Jeli Campus.
