Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the proximate analysis and physical analysis of Acacia mangium in the form of wood pellet biomass. This study also to determine the calorific value of the Acacia mangium between different portion that is bottom, middle and top and also 2 different particle size that is 0 5 mm and 1 5 mm The proximate analysis that had been conducted include the moisture content test, ash content test, volatile matter test and fixed carbon content. In addition, physical test also been conducted to determine the value of bulk density, durability, specific gravity. length and diameter The most important testing for this study was energy content to determine the caloric value of the Acacia mangium wood pellet producing. Results of the study shows the proximate analysis have mean of moisture content of the Acacia mangium wood pellet between portion and particle size in the range of 6.74% to 9.84% while the mean of ash content is in the range 0.29% to 0.59%. The mean of volatile matter for all the portion and particle size is in the range 80% to 87,64% and the mean of fixed carbon content is in the range 2.42% to 8.59%. The mean bulk density of all Acacia mangium wood pellet of portion and particle size is around 49.74 g/cm³ to 59.77%. The specific gravity data that had been obtained is in the range of 0.94 to 1.14. The mean durability of the pellet between portion and particle size in the range 15.43% to 42.06% while the mean length of wood pellet that had been produce is in the range 11.63 mm to 18.68 mm. The mean of diameter of wood pellet of different portion and particle size is in range 5.72 mm to 6.6 mm while the mean of calorificvalue that are obtained for all the wood pellet samples is in the range 19.48 Mi/Kg to 21.86 Mi/Kg.
