The study area is located at Lata Renyok, Jeli districts which is in northwestern part of Kelantan within latitude 05°36'0"N to 05°33'30"N and longitude 101°51'0"E to 101°53'30"E. This study is toward the minerals identification of the igneous rocks and clarifying the rock type based on the petrographic study. In addition, geological map of study area was also prepared. Generally, Lata Renyok consisted of granite rocks and metasedimentary rock which became parts of Migmatite Stong Complex Formation. These granite rocks are known as Kenerong Leucogranite and Noring granite. According to QAP classification diagram, the granites were be further classified into biotite granite and biotite granite porphyry. Besides, leucogranite rock was also been found sandwiched between the metasedimentary rock. Petrographic study such as thin section preparation, observation and rock slab staining shows that the mineralogy of the igneous rocks consists of quartz, alkali feldspar, plagioclase and biotite as the main minerals. In the study area, the presence of deformed structures such as minor faults and joints suggested that the area has been subjected to several tectonic activities during the Triassic period. Generally, it can be concluded that both biotite granite and biotite granite porphyry rock composed of similar mineral composition but vary only in term of their texture pattern.
