Abstract

Gua Setir limestone hill's form thin ridges that elongates from north to south direction. It is upright throughoutly except for its north tip where it is shown to be leaning to the west. This limestone hill covers the length of 1300m, mean width of 80m, and highest peak of 100m. The study area which is explained to be is within the extent of northern part of Kelantan covers the range of 25km², inclusive of Jeli district. With a scale of 1:30,000 (1 cm to 300 m) limited to 5'27.5'N and 5°49.2'N latitude and 101°53'E and 101° 09.5'E longitude. The exact pinpoint location of Gua Setir is approximately within the scope of N 5° 39' 38.88" E 101° 55' 31.80" nearby to Kampung Pasir Dusun. Most karst topography has the probability to be weakened due to dissolution of carbonate rocks by acidic groundwater as well as the acidic meteoric water. With this information, this study will provide an information on geology of the study area. This effort will also create awareness and appreciation of public toward caves, the earth's ancient heritage. The study of the area of expanse topography will interpret the geomorphology changes within the study area. During monsoon season, majority of this water catchment area is affected by the flash flood. This respective topography zone is highly affected by the drainage network then followed by phases of weathering process which could alters the geomorphology of the area. The outcome from this study will be nourished in developing the area as well as preserving the unique earth heritage as well as the beauty of nature.
