Abstract

This thesis represents about the study about three type of commercial brand of dry cat food that available in Malaysian market. Others cat food comes with a lot of choices and nutrients but not all are really good for cats. Nowadays, people not really care about the requirements by the cat since they tender to get the cheaper cat food and easy to buy when there are out of stock. The objectives of this thesis are to identify the nutrients in three commercial dry cat foods in term of percentage of protein, percentage of fat, percentage of ash, percentage of moisture, percentage of carbohydrate and pH reading. There are three type of brand have been chosen and after done the analysis, the premium brand show the best result and had the nearest nutrients value required by the cat. This analysis consists of six type of analysis and the used of determination of protein was the most critical part to be done since protein is one of the important nutrient for the cat. The entire three brands will be compared in order to identify which brand had the nutrients value nearest to the requirement of the cat.
