Abstract

Geological mapping and Geographical Information System (GIS)-based methodology is been used in the process to produce the Landslide Susceptibility Zonation (LSZ) map. The study area was located at Kampung Batu Papan, Gua Musang, Kelantan. The objective of this study is to determine about the geology of the study area, the factors of landslide susceptiblity and produce the LSZ map. The geological mapping was conducted at the study area to determine the general geology of the area and make a conclusion about formation of the area. The study area is said to be at the Gua Musang formation based on the rock type that is found. As for the factors of landslide susceptibility the factors is manipulated by using ArcGis software and then overlay it to produce LSZ map. The factor that has been used are rock type, soil type, slope, relative relief, land use and rainfall. Some of the factor like soil type and land use is digitized first before it can be overlay because the data is in an image format. Other factor is directly generated by ArcGis except rainfall because it has same distribution. The LSZ map that has been produced show that the area is consist of mainly moderate hazard.
