Abstract

This study is to determine the toxicity of crude extract of medicinal plants, Phyllanthus niruri, Orthosiphon stamineus, Andrographis paniculata against Brine Shrimp i.e. BSLT Assay. The toxicity determined at certain concentrations of the medicinal plant at 0, 0.2, 2, 20, 200 against the percentage of mortality of brine shrimp. The result for of Hempedu Bumi (Andrographis paniculata) at concentrations 0, 0.2, 2, 20, 200 µg/ml were 0, 0, 30.00±0.4714, 76.67±0.4714, 96.67±0.4714. Dukung Anak (Phyllanthus niruri) at concentrations 0, 0.2, 2, 20, 200 μg/ml were 0, 3.33± 4.716, 30.00 ± 4.716, 76.66 ± 4.716, 93.33 and Misai Kucing (Orthosiphon stamineus) at concentration 0, 0.2, 2, 20, 200 μg/ml were 0, 0, 23.34 ± 4.716, 73.33, 93.33 respectively. The value of LC₅₀ for Hempedu Bumi (Andrographis paniculata), Dukung Anak (Phyllanthus niruri), and Misai Kucing (Orthosiphon stamineus) are 74.34 ± 0.5477, 68.38 ± 0.5477, and 69.82 ± 0.5477 respectively. The chemical profiling of the medicinal plant by using Thin Layer Chromatography give positive result because the compound increase to the upper layer of the TLC plate. It showed the compound have active component in all three medicinal plant.
