Proteins play crucial role in almost every biological process in living organism. Besides providing structural support, they are responsible of an ample variety of physiological functions (catalysis, transport and sensing) in all living systems. Sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) was carried out in this research. SDS-PAGE is the most widely used analytical method in protein chemistry to resolve separate components of a protein mixture and estimate the molecular weights of polypeptide chains. The gel is dyed with Coomassie Brilliant Blue to visualize the proteins. Bands on the gel are proteins that have migrated from the origin point to a specific location. It can be useful to consider an organism's complete proteome, which can be conceptualized as the complete set of proteins from all of the various cellular proteomes. Nowadays the proteomics technology is advance enough to solve many proteomics problems, but there is still lack of information related to protein profiles of mud crab, Scylla serrata carapace. It is believed that this information is very useful for the study of the contribution to the health of the mud crab. This would provide more information and knowledge in protect the mud crabs from invaders and preventing fouling by the carapace.
