The present study is to investigate the existence of Aeromonas hydrophila in climbing perch and evaluate the sensitivity of Aeromonas hydrophila against to 15 antimicrobial agents. There was no database information on antibiogram of bacteria from climbing perch. Thus, this study was carried out to determine the effectiveness of antibiotics to control Aeromonas hydrophila disease in climbing perch. These results can be used as a guideline for fish treatment purpose to reduce the antibiotics resistance cases in the future. Furthermore, the present study also provides the information on the safety level of consuming climbing perch in Jeli, Kelantan based on multiple antibiotic resistance (MAR) index. Antibiotic sensitivity test was carried out by Kirby Baeur disc diffusion method against 15 types of antibiotics. The percentage of antibiotic resistance in the present study was recorded 25%, whereas 65.8 °A) was reported as antibiotic sensitivity and 9.2% was reported intermediately sensitive case. It was found that Chloramphenieol, ErythromyLin, Oxolillic acid, Florfenkol, Nalidixic acid, Gentamicin and Flumequine could be effectively used to control Aeromonas hydrophila in climbing perch. These antibiotics may be used to overcome disease outbreak due to Aeromonas hydrophila.
