Abstract

This research covered two parts of studies. The study discussed about geological mapping of Kampung Durian Badak, Dabong, Kelantan. It is bounded by latitudes 5° 20' 0" N until 5° 23'0" N and longitude between 101° 55' 30" E and 101° 58' 0" E.The study area is a part of the StongMigmatite Complex that was formed by rocks in three units which are TonaliteBerangkat, Granite Noring and LeucograniteKenerong. The purposes of this study are to study the general geology and to make out geological of Kampung Durian Badak. Lithology found in this study area is phyllite, slate and shale with subordinate sandstone and schist with the prominent development of limestone. Also there are granite. From this study area, two rock's samples were collected and experimental petrology was carried out. The two rock's samples are identified as schist and granite. The second study discussed on groundwater movement and quality in parts of Kota Bharu. Groundwater is an important natural resource with high economic value and social significance. The supply of groundwater is not unlimited and therefore its use should be properly planned based on the understanding of the groundwater systems behaviour in order to ensure its sustainable use. The aim of present study is to clarify seasonal variations on groundwater level changes in parts of Kota Bharu. Groundwater regime and water level fluctuations depend on climatic conditions such as precipitation intensity, evapotranspiration, drainage, as well as other hydrological factors. The relationship between precipitation, air temperature and groundwater level fluctuations could also lead and give different perspective of possible changes in groundwater quality. Therefore, 10 tube wells had been chosen for this study for the water level on July and December 2012 to represent the pre and post monsoon season.
