Abstract

A study was conducted at Universiti Malaysia Kelantan to determine the effectiveness of Paranox 13 and Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) and to know the most efficient ratio to control weeds. The experiment was conducted by using mixtures of Paranox 13 and Monosodium Glutamate at seven differences ratio (1:0, 0:1, 5:1, 2:1, 1:1, 1:2, 1:5). The concentration of the solution is based on the ratio of Paranox 13 and MSG in the mixtures. All the weeds in the study plot were dead except for the weeds in the study plot (R5) and Negative control plots. There are no significant differences on the effects of mixtures on the weeds leaves, shoots and stems (p>0.05) through out the study period. The additions of MSG in the Paranox 13 did not show any effectiveness to control the weeds. So, the farmers practices of adding MSG to Paranox 13 is not effective to control weeds. However, it might be effective if the dose of MSG is increase.
